Hello my name is Sacha and I am currently homeless with my daughter Ellie who is 13. I don’t want to go into too much detail about our experiences as I want to keep our lives as safe and private as we can. We are kind and good people who have just landed on hard times and need support.

I have created this fundraiser hoping to receive financial support to get back on our feet. Any funds that you kindly donate will go towards a vehicle and some kind of housing. We are hoping to find something permanent but open to a tent or caravan at a local van park in the meantime.

We left QLD due to family violence, community violence & discrimination for a fresh start in NSW but sadly landed in another abusive situation. From there we ended up in crisis accommodation which was hazardous and unsafe and not up to basic living standards.

With the last bit of money from a crisis payment we sought our own accommodation that evening and the following day housing services were able to extend the motel where we are for a few more days.

After talking to services yesterday I may not be eligible for further assistance as I do not have police reports or documentation to prove my situation as well as not being in the state for long enough. I will be meeting with them again on Tuesday and see what the future with housing services may look like.

It is so difficult to be in the homeless system as I am a very private and independent person. The only way they will help you is if they push you enough to emotionally break down, they continue to ask the same intrusive questions over and over even though they already have all the information on a computer screen in front of them and force you to continually share your trauma. It is not a safe system or a supportive one and I hope one day I can be a supportive loving safe space for women & children in the same position. Or use my crafts to create advocacy.

Moving forward we are ‘Homeful’ we have each other and the kindness and support of family and friends and people like you.

I hope to get on my feet, get back to working as an artist/creative and finish my studies in visual arts. I want to find a safe and inclusive community, school and environment for Ellie. And work on my health and focus on getting my medical conditions sorted.
