INTRODUCTION
Hi, my name is Phoebe and I am a third year film student at Norwich University of the Arts. Me and my crew are raising money to fund the production of our graduate short film 'Homecoming Without A Halo' for which I am the writer and director.
Our film is a coming of age/family drama set in the early-00s which delves into the whimsical and disturbed mind of Lorna, a twenty-year-old student grappling with her dawning adolescence as she arrives back at her childhood home in an attempt to salvage her dissolving sense of identity.
ABOUT THE FILM
'Homecoming Without A Halo' is told through the distorted perspective of our protagonist, Lorna, amidst her move back into her family home. Following a distressing phone call to her father, Lorna leaves behind her promising artistic pursuit in London for her outgrown pink bedroom plastered with reminders of her discarded passions. Lorna quickly establishes that coming back to the very place she was once so desperate to vacate wasn't the best decision after all now that her disillusioned fondness for home neglects to provide her with the flood of comfort she anticipated it would. Filled with anxiety surrounding her family's inevitable curiosity about her reckless derailing of their depiction of her future, and her strained relationship with her father and rivalled brother, Lorna spirals deeper.
Our film explores the tender mourning of returning to a place which no longer feels like home, and the hopeless attempt to squeeze yourself back into a version of you which ceases to exist in order to regain a sense of belonging. Emerging from my own turbulent academic journey, Lorna will provide a therapeutic closure to this chapter of my life and (hopefully) solace for any audience members who can identify with her struggles, both internal and external.
FUNDING
Since this is a student film, we are responsible for sourcing our own funding. Our largest budget factors are casting and location; with five characters and six sets to account for, this film will need all the help it can get to bring our vision to life as best as we possibly can. Your financial support will enable us to hire working actors, secure locations, and purchase props and costumes which will breathe life into our film and take it to the next level with 100% of the money raised going straight into production.
Since none of this would be possible without your kind investment, we will give a special thanks credit to everyone who donates to our production, no matter how little.
