Homeless and Trans in Arkansas: Elijah Needs Shelter
Donation protected
I’m a disabled trans person experiencing homelessness in Arkansas, and I need a place to call home.
My name is Elijah (they/them) and after many years of housing insecurity and eight months of homelessness, I am looking for your help in funding safe, permanent housing. As a disabled trans person and a recent survivor of domestic violence, there have been many obstacles in my journey toward a more stable home environment. I often have to make impossible choices between necessary medical care, food, transportation, and other essentials—and without the support of community, I cannot afford housing on my own. I have an opportunity to build a safe, permanent home and I need $10,000 to help make that happen.
I have dissociative identity disorder, OCD, and I’m autistic. Being without steady housing for so long has been detrimental to my physical and emotional well-being, and having my own little cabin near loved ones will allow me to focus on my health and rest safely out of the elements at night. When our bodies start to feel safe after experiencing complex trauma, something really magical happens - our inner worlds start to feel safer, too.
That kind of safety and healing allows me to do the things that bring me back to life - like writing, and forming sacred, intentional community with other marginalized people here in the South.
Please share this page widely. Each donation gets me one step closer to home. I am profoundly grateful for your support - thank you to everyone who is working to make a #home4elijah.
