Hello! I’m M. 'Eóghan' Voce Moody. Ghą́ Doonáhndída is my Chihénde (Eastern Chiricahua Apache) name. My father and I are asking for your financial help to be able to remain in San Diego, which we’ve known as home since my childhood. We currently only have enough funds to stay in our place through early December and are seeking financial assistance in order to be able to make a down payment on a place here. We are people of Southwestern US indigenous descent (Chiricahua Apache) and my dad is a US veteran with both PTSD and physical disabilities. I receive SSI for a disability. So we are a multiply marginalized family on fixed incomes, and we have been dealing with the ups and downs of mental healthcare and navigating acute mental crises.

On December 3rd of 2021 my Bipolar mother (that was her official diagnosis, but we suspected more), who also had early onset dementia, was experiencing a severely acute episode and set fire to our family home in Tombstone, AZ. We lost all of our possessions, and my dad and I barely escaped with our lives, with my dad requiring hospitalization for burns afterwards. After the fire, my dad and I spent approximately two months in a hotel. Finally, on February 1st, 2022, our insurance helped us move back to our beloved San Diego. My mother, who had been in multiple mental health facilities since the fire, passed away in May of 2022. My dad and I are still very much in the process of rebuilding our lives. We would love another chance at staying in a geographical area that has proved healing and beneficial for us, where we have the social services and interpersonal support that we need.
