"HOME, SWEET HOME" Housing Grants

Over the past few years, many of you have supported me as we raised funds for sisters who reached out needing help.

Over 95% of the requests I receive are for housing assistance. And sadly, because sisters are rarely believed when they ask for help, they attach copies of eviction paperwork as proof of the need. The unfortunate truth is that, when you go to a stranger for help of this magnitude, you’ve exhausted all options.

Here’s the sobering truth: Since the pandemic, Black women are two times more likely to be behind on rent than White women and men. And they are five times more likely to be in the eviction process than anyone else.

To help as many as we can, “HOME, SWEET HOME” is a crowdfunding campaign to provide Black women housing grants for $2,000. While donations will be accepted all year, intentional fundraising weeks will take place four times a year. Each cycle, matching contributions starting at $5,000 will be accepted.

All completed applications will be considered and grants funded with the resources available. Applications will be available at www.candicebenbow.com.
