Reason for the Fundraiser
Don’s recent surgery has left his mobility more limited than before, making everyday tasks increasingly difficult. As he continues to heal, it has become clear that he will need home modifications—such as a shower he can safely get in and out of—along with other accommodations to help make daily life more manageable.
Don has been away from home for several weeks, and Misty has remained faithfully by his side throughout this entire journey. In the near future, Don will continue to travel for treatment, including extended stays in St. Louis.
From a young age, Don has lived with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1). Over the years, this disease has progressed, causing severe pain as nerve tumors developed and later became malignant. This type of cancer is called MPNST (Malignant Peripheral
lNerve Sheath Tumor) Approximately 14 years ago, Don underwent a major surgery that required the removal of his femoral nerve, resulting in partial loss of mobility. After that surgery, he was no longer able to work and has since been on disability.
Current Medical Update
In recent weeks, Don has undergone two additional surgeries, including the removal of another nerve tumor that was also found to be malignant. During his rehabilitation, he faced further complications, including a blood infection and a urinary tract infection. While he has recently been released from rehab, his treatment is ongoing and will include radiation therapy, which will most likely take place in St. Louis.
Another tumor has also been discovered on the opposite side. The initial biopsy was inconclusive, and a second biopsy will be required. At this time, we are trusting God as we wait for answers and clarity on what lies ahead.
A Testimony of Faith
I would like to take a moment to share something truly remarkable about my brother. From the very first day of his hospital stay, no matter how much pain or exhaustion he was experiencing, Don made it his mission to ask nearly every doctor, nurse, or staff member who entered his room if they knew Jesus. His circumstances never stopped him from sharing his faith.
Some responded warmly, others not as much—but Don never wavered. His boldness, peace, and unwavering trust in the Lord have been a powerful testimony to everyone around him. Even in suffering, he continues to glorify God.
Please continue to pray for Don and Misty—for healing, strength, comfort, and peace. We believe in the power of prayer and are trusting God every step of the way. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support during this difficult season.
