Home in Jeopardy: Help my family save our home
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alexandra, and I’m asking for help during one of the hardest times my family has ever faced. We need help keeping our home.
In 2022, we were finally able to buy a home in State College — something we were so proud of. My dad has work all his life and it took all his retirement. But we didn’t realize that we were starting out already behind on property taxes. Now, we owe for two years ($8160), but I’ve been told that I have to pay off all of the 2023 taxes ($4,031) by June 30 just to qualify for a payment plan for this year. If I can’t, we may lose our home.
On top of that, my dad’s health has gotten worse. He has Parkinson’s, and it’s progressed to the point where he can barely walk and sometimes experiences hallucinations. I’ve been doing my best to care for him while also trying to finish school and work.
Due to circumstances out of my control it took me a year longer to complete my master. Now, I’m finally graduating this May, but I’m a year behind and deeper in student debt. I’ve been juggling multiple jobs to stay on top of bills, but there’s just never been room to save. I had an internship out of state this semester hoping to have more steady income but my check went straight to rent before I even saw it.
I’m trying so hard to stay hopeful, but the truth is we’re out of time. I’m praying for a miracle, and I’m reaching out to ask for any help you might be able to give — whether it’s a donation or just sharing this with others.
Thank you for reading this and for even considering supporting us. It means more than I can say.
With love and gratitude,
Alexandra
