We are seeking to help a young man, Ivan Orlov, who is having a very difficult time in Belarus.
Some 30 years ago, through a charitable organization we worked with, Ivan, as a 12 year old child, received lifesaving heart surgery in the US. He is alive thanks to the surgery, but his heart is not strong, to put it mildly, and he is unable to work full time both as a result of the general economic situation in his country due to Covid, and his own poor health. Recently, his 81-year-old father barely survived a very serious case of Covid; twice he was hospitalized and given oxygen. After the illness, the father can no longer walk and take care of himself. He has been forced to remain in bed for over 1 month now, barely able to turn himself due to a debilitating weakness; he is unable to sit up in a chair.
Ivan's mother passed away recently, so it is only Ivan to care for his father - there is no other family. The father's pension, not surprisingly, is worse than meager and Ivan's savings have almost run out.
Ivan desperately needs some funds to pay for a caregiver to come every day (est. $300 per month). In addition, the family will need help with food and utilities, which we estimate to be $250 per month).
We have already put in what we can afford but an additional $2500 is needed to cover the necessary costs for up to 6 months.
