It brings us great disbelief and sadness to announce the passing of Debra Kitchen James. Debra gained her angel wings on Father’s Day-June 18th, 2023.
All who knew her, knew her to be a Loving, Caring, Angelic, Devoted Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and a Great Friend to many. She was a creative soul who loved to crochet and draw, but most of all she loved to sew. She made prom dresses for her daughters, bridesmaid dresses for her late son Randy’s wedding, and always hemmed up her sons’ pants. She also was a huge dog lover. If you knew her, you know her dogs were always following her around and wouldn’t leave her side.
On Mother’s Day of 2023, she went to the hospital for terrible headaches. It turned out there was a tumor on the stem of her brain. She had emergency surgery to have the tumor removed, which was a success. She was then set to begin Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy to help strengthen her motor skills at Woodlake. Shortly after arriving there she was rushed to Manchester Memorial for leg swelling and her recovery began going in reverse. They found several blood clots in her heart and legs, and more tumors had appeared throughout. She was then transferred to St. Francis Hospital to have yet another Emergency Surgery and they discovered she had an Onset of Cancer, which became Stage 4, in a matter of days. She was an overall healthy person. The doctors said surgery would be too dangerous and sent her home with hospice care. Three days after arriving home, the morning of Father’s Day, sadly she took her last breath, with her daughters by her side.
We come to ask for some help and prayers. It has been a very rough time for our family this year. So much loss, hurt and pain has happened. In a matter of months we have lost our Father (her significant other) on Memorial Day and Nephew (her grandson) in February. We are so appreciative and thankful for all the phone calls and we feel the prayers. As of this moment we are trying to raise funds to help with funeral expenses for our mother’s home going services and unpaid medical bills. Please continue to wrap your arms around our little close knit family and find it in your heart to consider donating, no amount is too small, any and everything will help US and We Thank you in advance. ~The James/Shropshire Family
