Home for Jeff

This our son Jeff-and this camper is his home for 4 years.   To him it is his HOME and he is not homeless-
Jeff was in a car accident when he was 16 years old-a terrific bright student, wonderful son and brother- just 4 kids out to go surfing who stayed up all night talking about their Senior HS year - no drinking or drugs involved just a tragic accident-one that changed our lives forever
Jeff lay in a coma for 32 days- major brain injury,(TBI) broken bones, lung, liver and body trauma.  When he woke up he couldn't talk, chew or sit in a chair-it has been a long challenge but by the GRACE of God Jeff has learned to live somewhat on his own.   Years and years of rehab he did try and work but cognitively and phycially it wasn't possible- at one point he worked on a machine and the first day- caught his right hand in the machine and lost 3 fingers.  To add to his phycially health-Jeff had received 22 blood transferions at the time of his car accident-the risks of course were many in 1986 and Jeff contacted Hep C .
We were lucky it wasn't worse and he was treated and is doing ok- but with constant hospital visits he contacted MRSA-to add to his medical issues.

Jeff is very aware of who he could have become-and he wants to live on his own-With  SSI he recieves $672 a month after he pays for his medicare.
Jeff knows how to budget -he currently has no power but uses solar for his rig to save money- as his parents we are getting on in years and want to ensure Jeff has a home to live in- we are taking our retirement money and buying a 1937 -600 sq foot cabin in Crestline, CA- unable to afford anything in CA this was the only opition and still have him close enough to doctors for continued treatments and family to help him with his SSI and life- Crestline is 30 mins away from Loma Linda Hospital where Jeff did his rehab from the car accident and where they tried to reattached his fingers after his machine accident-so Crestline is more then perfect.
This  77 year old cabin needs lots of work- but of course Jeff thinks it's a Palace!  And he thinks he could live in it without a heater or insulation in the attic!
Don't you wish everyone felt this blessed with what they have.
The cabin has no insulation, no heater, no stove or refrigerator, washer or dryer and Jeff has no furniture and he still thinks this is something he can live in and better then what he has- his attitude is great.
We are selling his 1976 RV- which is in horrible shape and don't except to get much to help purchase a car that
Jeff can drive to appointments, etc.
As parents we are desperate to give our son a descent place to live and know that he is close to doctors and family.
Jeff is a survior- I personally don't know how he has done it, living in a broken down camper -being woke up every night and told to move by the police and never having more then 5' to move around in.

Your prayers that we can finally get him in a place that is safe and warm are appreicated.
