Expenses due to 8 yr old Angelia's kidney failure
Donation protected

Dear friends,
Here’s what happened to my 8 year old niece named Angelia Given.
My brother, Joshua Given and sister in law, Rachel Given found out 2 years ago that their precious daughter, Angelia had the following kidney condition, Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome due to NPHS2 mutation. Doctors predicted that Angelia’s kidney function would remain stable at stage 3 until her late teens or early 20’s which would then lead to a kidney transplant. This prediction was due to the very slow progress rate of her kidney’s getting worse over the 2 year period. However, on Easter April 21st 2019, she went into complete kidney failure that caused her to be air lifted via helicopter to St Louis Children’s hospital where she was seen immediately by her kidney specialist. There she underwent immediate incubation since she was unable to breath. Upon being in the hospital they found out she needed a dialysis catheter where she was on kidney dialysis 24/7. After a week in the hospital she was improving in her health so they moved her out of PICU. However, only 4 hours later she had extreme pain in her abdomen, followed by respiratory arrest that caused her to be rushed back to PICU. There she had to be resuscitated via CPR after flat lining for 6 minutes. She then had to be incubated yet a second time for 7 initial days. She remained in PICU for another 9 days before she was moved out to a regular room. She is still in the hospital awaiting surgery to put a port in her stomach so she can eventually receive dialysis at home. They estimate she could be in the hospital for another 2 weeks or so.
The good news is that their insurance covers all of Angelia’s medical bills.
However they need to raise funds to get the house ready for Angelia when she comes home. Reasons they need to raise money immediately:
1. Angelia will need to do kidney dialysis at home, called PD. They have to keep her bedroom completely sterile. They are required to buy all new furniture including a bed, dresser, 3 medical cabinets and shelving to store her medical supplies. They also have two broken pipes under the house that caused significant damage to the sub pump and all duck work. All new pipes are also needed. This needs to be fixed immediately before she is able to return home as the mold that could grow as a result is life threatening to Angelia. The cost to repair all of this is thousands of dollars and this needs to be done ASAP.
2. My sister in law, Rachel Given is due to have her baby June 5th. Dealing with all the stress alone in the hospital caused her to have heavy contractions. Doctors were worried she would go into labor too soon. So, after Angelia went into cardiac arrest, my brother Joshua decided to stay at the hospital which is 4 hours from his home to be with both Rachel and Angelia. Joshua had to take off over two weeks of work due to this and had a significant amount of loss in wages.
We ask that you consider giving what you feel lead to. We also ask for your continued prayers for both Angelia and the arrival of a precious new baby. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
We do want to go ahead and thank those who have already gave and those who have taken the time to ask our heavenly Father for help. Prayer is so powerful and to have people all over praying for her is very humbling.
Thank you God for taking care of Angelia and bringing so many people in her life who care and love her.
Thank you and God Bless,
Jael Given
