Home Dialysis for Sandy
Donation protected

I need your help and ideas my friends and family. As many of you know, Sandy, my eldest son, has had kidney failure since 2000. He had a transplant from his brother, Wayne, 16 years ago (they even made it onto the telly!) The kidney lasted 13 years and enabled Sandy to live a relatively normal life with his 3 girls. Then in 2016 the kidney stopped working, so for the last 3 years Sandy has been on dialysis at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for 3 nights a week, 5 hours at a time. It is extremely hard going for him and his family. He struggles with chronic pain and misses out on lots due to this, days out, holidays and quality time with his girls. The past few months he has been training himself, with the help of the nurses at the renal unit, to dialyze himself, with the view to him being able to have dialysis treatment at home. Home dialysis would better for him in so many ways....it's a gentler and more efficient treatment which will prolong and improve his quality of life, and allow him to spend so much more time with his children. Unfortunately this comes at a price... which is where we are asking for your help. In order to have home dialysis treatment, Sandy needs a specialised dialysis unit and this costs around £6000. So myself and my family are going to be raising the money through sponsorship and we will be looking for volunteers and ideas of things we can do, to raise the funds and give Sandy the best chance we can at a normal life. So please, any ideas and donations you can give would be so very much appreciated. Thank you, June x
