Home care for Connor Wiggins

On August 17,2020 my boyfriend suffered cardiac arrest. He was found at work crawling on his hands and knees and when asked if he was ok he looked up and was blue. His co worker called the fire department and they came right over they walked him to the ambulance and his heart stopped on the stretcher. They preformed cpr and got him back. On the way to baystate medical center he was intubated in the ambulance. He remained in critical condition in the ICU for several days. They deemed him to have a moderate brain injury. Doctors told me they didn’t know if he was gunna make it and if he did he would be severely handicap. I didn’t believe them. They said it came from a lung infection then he aspirated which caused lungs to stop which in turn stopped his heart. He was on a ventilator in the ICU with heavy support for 3 weeks. He became stable and was moved  onto the intermediate care floor at baystate. He is following all commands asked of him. Like night and day. He is now completely off of the ventilator and oxygen just getting humidified air so his secretions do not dry up.  It is very common for people who were in the ICU to suffer from ICU delirium and hallucinations.  They have been searching for a long term care acute rehabilitation for him to go to but everyone is refusing him do to the delirium and hallucinations. I called to check on him last night and he was completely out of it. I rushed to the hospital at 2am to crawl in his bed and calm him down. They tried several medications but nothing was touching him. Within 30 mins I got him to fall asleep and he slept throughout the night and has been calm all day with me by his side. No hallucinations no delirium. They are requesting my stay again. That’s when it clicked. I do not think Connor will thrive at a long term care if it was even possible to get him accepted. He needs me. That’s when I decided that home care would be the best option. Just one night with him and I see the difference. I am raising money for his care and medical supplies. I will be requesting home nurses and physical therapists to come in and work with him. We also needs his medical supplies and hospital bed so it is easier for me to care for him. I spoke to phycology today and him being in a normal setting with routine is what will help get rid of the hallucinations and delirium. He needs time his brain is still repairing. He will get through this I know in my heart he will be fully restored. God is healing him Home care is what is best for him. He would get one on one attention vs. if accepted his nurse will have 6 patients minimum and he needs closer care then this. He is still requiring tube feeds which will be addressed as well. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Please help Connor recover
