Hospice Care Expenses for Carl Priest (Papa) ❤️

Words cannot express how humbled, yet overwhelmed by all of this support!

God truly Blessed Carl and I with the most loving, caring, supportive friends and family possible!

Carl had triple bypass during covid, was sent home and then returned on our 60* Anniversary because of a bad drug reaction crippling his body.

His nurse called me and he asked, "Did you put me here to die?"

I MUST keep him home with me!

When getting ready on Labor Day to take him to hospital, our Lovebug from Phoenix Face-Timed. He sobbed, "Desirae, I'm dying, I'm having a stroke!"

I cannot tell him he's on hospice! He cries enough daily about his Lovebugs and the friends that come to visit. I haven't been able to leave his side at all this year - I'm his security!

Hi everyone!

My name is Chelsey and I am one of Carls grandchildren.

As a lot of you may know, recently Carl (Our Papa) has been going through a lot of significant health issues and complications that have resulted in Carl being placed on Hospice Care.

Carl is currently home with his Wife, Kathy (Our Grammie), and she is trying her very best to keep life for Carl as normal as possible during this difficult time and transition.

Carls new life at home has become very difficult, physically, especially on our Grandmother.

Due to the shortage of healthcare providers, Carl is receiving Hospice Care from an Aide and RN for a very limited amount of time every week. We as a family looked into a family member becoming Carls Care Giver, but because Kathy is “able to care for” Carl, New York State does not allow Kathy to have a family member be able care for him and be compensated for it.

Our large and loving family members are helping our very best to care for Carl and help Kathy in anyway possible, but as time passes, Carl is requiring additional assistance, 24 hours a day.

Kathy is looking to hire Carl a personal aide, someone who can come and help provide daily life actives at home with him when family is unable to be around. It is the safest option for the two of them, however, it is coming at an unexpectedly high price.

To help ease the finical burden of this decision, we decided to set up a GoFundMe to help my Grandmother worry about one less thing during this very difficult time ❤️
