Home & Studio Fire
Donation protected
On October 7th, a flash storm in Maynard caused a power surge resulting in a two-alarm fire at our parents' home. The fire started in and devastated the basement and caused significant damage to the first and 2nd floors.
Lost in the fire were many items of sentimental value, but most significantly our mom's art studio (her happy place and a big part of her life's work) and the majority of our dad's book collection (his happy place and an important source of inspiration for his work as an author).
Our parents will be displaced from their home for six months to a year as major rebuilds are required to make the house inhabitable again. While insurance will help cover the damage to the house, furniture, etc., we would love to help bring our parents a little bit of joy and comfort during this hard time and get them back on their creative and literary feet. We are beyond grateful for the outpouring of support and offers we've received thus far from friends, family, and loved ones. Funds raised will go directly towards rebuilding a collection of art supplies for our mom and our dad's scholarly and personal book collection.
This year has been a hard one for everyone - in the midst of the election and a pandemic, losing their sense of comfort and normalcy has not been an easy thing for my parents to take on. We are so immensely appreciative of your contributions, support, and kind words.
