Eugene
He is the reason we want to start a fund for all our orphans. We take on a lot of medical dogs. By that we mean, we don't shy away from the heartworm positives, neurological issues, chronic neglect, and physically distraught.
Eugene came to us on December 30th. We didn't know it yet but he was riddled with fungus inside. The fungus had taken hold of him and was not letting him go, no matter how or what we did. We decided to put Eugene to rest on February 3rd. It was hard, sweet, incredibly sad, but also beautiful. He had never known love and he had three separate people from different walks of life show up for him at the end. Eugene will have dignity in his death. He will lead this medical cause and raise money for all our dogs fighting just like he did, all the way to the end. They deserve a room, an urn, and a lot of love and peace in the end. But they also deserve the fight before; the testing, the X-rays, the cytology, the ultrasounds, the medicine-- the exhaustion of all avenues to save these deserving souls that didn't stand a chance before us.
Not only two hours later did we have to put down another orphan. Puff. I want her name known because her foster did something really beautiful. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and not responding to antibiotics after three different rounds. She was struggling to breathe and becoming more agitated. She was only 9 months old and was loving her newfound life. But this was more than any body could fight. As she grew more in pain all she wanted was the fosters mom. This beautiful woman stayed with her in the end. She was most peaceful and happiest with her.
You see this is what I am saying. We aren't trying to market or exploit, we honestly want to give our efforts quietly, honestly and fully. We want to dignify as many paws as we can but we can't do that with just the love in our hearts. We do need you, and well, everyone. This is truly a nonprofit. We give every cent back we can to these animals. And I know Puff, and Eugene would want to stand tall even in death to forge a path for those who may have more of a chance to get that care and find their happiness on the other side of the awful cards they have been dealt.
So please join us in making a difference, in honor of Eugene, and Puff. We are raising money to benefit Home 2 Home Canine Orphanage (H2h), and any donation will help make an impact on all medical issues we have within our organization. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much to me.
