To my loving community,
In my world, I have entered into a period of newness in my realization that I am (and have always been) a Transgender person. This means I am folding my "old" self into my "new" self and I need your help to fund my gender affirming (GA) surgery.
- As of February 2020, my life opened up in such a way that I have been gently forced to become more of myself and that self is living into my Nonbinary/Transmasculine identity. While it is true that I am a caregiver and healer for others, it has always been difficult for me to ask for and receive care for me. Now for my sake and survival, this GoFundMe is an opportunity for me to practice being a better caregiver and healer for the me that I am becoming. This fundraiser also humbles me and allows me the chance to witness how you all, my loving community, still cares for and supports me too.
- Due to a recent PTSD diagnosis from my military service, I had to walk away from my roles as Hospital Chaplain and Military Chaplaincy and I am now a fully disabled veteran dedicated to my healing & supported solely by the VA healthcare system. Although the VA plans to cover GA surgeries in the years to come, it still does not at this time. This is why I need your financial support as I continue the pursuit of integration and "holy wholeness" of myself.
As a 14-year Veteran who has deployed numerous times and served under the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy, I endured the trauma of coming out the closet and going back in over and over again for professional and personal survival and I truly could use your financial and moral support where the VA falls short.
