I know, the pic is not what I show on Facebook. But, this is my jaw at natural resting position when I’m not constantly trying to pull it to center, which is exhausting and causes more pain, a pain I never thought imaginable. But I thought no, show it and don’t be embarrassed. The disc on the left side of my TMJ is displaced without reduction, or “stuck”, causing it to slide to the left and severely limits my ability to open, chew, speak. As many of you know I have been battling this through ups and downs for 2 years now with TMJD, and I unfortunately need further more intense treatment. I need what’s called a TMJD splint made custom by Dr. Jason Pehling of Seattle. After this treatment I’ll need an occlusal adjustment, the very first step is a splint which will realign my jaw. If you can’t help I understand! Feel free to share this link. I was encouraged by a friend in a TMJD support group to give this a try again even though this is not a comfortable thing for me to do. I feel I’m on my way, some days I don’t but overall I really do feel hope now that I'm in the care of one of the top TMJD specialists. This has been the most painful and difficult year in my 45 years. But I’m not giving up. God bless. Here's a helpful link explaining the basics of TMJD displacement without reduction
