As many of you may know, our dear friend Holly recently underwent a double mastectomy after testing postive for a genetic mutation BRCA2 responsible for giving her an 87% chance of developing the most aggressive form of breast cancer in the near future.
Holly is a warrior. She is the kindest soul we know. She is also the toughest chick I have ever met. She will battle through all of this and she will not ask for help.
That's what friends are for. We are here to recognize when our loved ones could use a leg up, even though they don't ask for it.
Holly is a Mother, living in a city with very few friends and family, she is just 28 years old, and she just lost both of her breasts.

What she has not yet shared is that she is also losing her fallopian tubes for the same reason, that nasty little genetic mutation, a looming threat of cancer in her near future.
She has battled through one of the most difficult parts, losing both of her breasts. She has held her head up and stayed as strong as can be. Now it is time for her to have the fallopian tubes removed.
The challenge she is currently facing is: that is a lot of time off of work. A lot. Her hero of a husband is working his rear end off to keep them afloat during this time, but Portland is expensive and the last thing they should have to be worrying about right now is money.
Holly shared with me last night that, in order to get by, she believes she will need to cancel her upocoming surgeries of removing her fallopian tubes and breast reconstruction and return to work until she is able to save up enough funds to take some time off again.
You know what? I don't like this. None of you should like this. I don't want her hanging out with those cancer threats in her body, I don't want to find out that she waited too long, and I don't want her to have to wait, possibly a year, for her to have breasts again.
She has been the light in so many of our lives, and she would never ask for help, but I think this is our moment to give it. To recognize that she could use a helping hand, and to be there for this amazing, brave, loving woman.
It kills me to think that she is going to have to cancel these surgeries. I want nothing more for her than to get them done and out of the way so that she can start moving on with life.
She is making the responsible decision with taking care of these things, and she hasn't asked for help. For those of us who know her and are her friend, we know that we would love to be there for her, as she has always been there for us.
Let's get her bills taken care of so that she can get them dang tubes removed and concentrate on healing and living.
Also, maybe don't tell her that I am doing this. She'd kill me.
Thank you so much.
