Hi! My name is Abby and I'm Holly Tomcala's best friend of over 25 years.
Holly was diagnosed with breast cancer on March 29th, 2021. It is an aggressive form of breast cancer, but it has been caught early and her doctors feel that she will respond well to treatment. Great news!
There are still test results pending and another biopsy to be done, but as of right now, Holly will start chemo ASAP. She will be having a chemo port implanted next week. Chemo will last for a number of months, then her doctor has recommended a lumpectomy. After her lumpectomy she will receive radiation for 4-6 1/2 weeks. She will then receive injections for one year following. After that will come 5-10 years of hormone blockers. Again, this treatment plan is all pending more test results, but this is what we know so far.
Myself, along with Holly's family and friends, want nothing more than for Holly to be able to focus on getting better. There are days Ryan will need to be with her to offer her support and love. I personally don't want them to worry about hospital bills or just bills in general! They just need to focus on whatever Holly and their family needs.
Any donation you can make will help their family pay medical bills, pay bills in general or help pay for things to keep Holly more comfortable while she heals at home.
If you live near Holly, food is always a great way to show you care! Meals that can be frozen and then just put in the oven for dinner can offer so much help. Prepped slow cooker meals that they can pull out of the freezer and toss in their slow cooker in the morning would also be great. Door Dash or Grub Hub gift cards can help greatly as well!
If you have spent any time with Holly, you know just how wonderful a person she is. She has been my best friend for over 25 years for a reason! She has always been there for me, during the hardest parts of my life and the very best parts of my life. I love her and Ryan so much and I just want to do all I can to help them. Please consider donating. It would mean so much to them!
