Holly was taken to the ER on Wednesday, August 14, for vomiting & severe pain in her back and abdominal region. The ER did a CT scan of her abdominal and lower back and found a fracture on her T-11 vertebrae (which was causing part of the severe pain) but then found something very unexpected. Cancer was clearly visible on the lower parts of both lungs, her spleen, and her left hip. We are waiting for further imaging to find the source of cancer and how far it has spread. The doctor and surgeon both said the cancer is clearly malignant and has invaded multiple organs and bones, but the full extent is still unknown.
The day after (August 15) a biopsy was done to identify the type of cancer, and those results will be available at the middle of next week (August 21) and an update will follow. Holly is currently on heavy pain medications and anti-nausea medications, she is at home, unable to work anymore for the near future, and is resting as they decide on a treatment plan (awaiting biopsy and a meeting with Rocky Mountain Cancer Center).
The purpose of this campaign is to raise money to help with bills related to doctor appointments, hospital visits, biopsy, and treatment (deductibles) and also to help pay bills during the next several month when Holly will be unable to work. Our goal is the raise at least $10,000 for Holly and Torrey (husband) Friberg by September 15th (Holly’s birthday) to help ease the financial burden.
In addition, and even more importantly, we would appreciate prayers for the hard road ahead. If you’d like to send an encouraging note or Bible verse please send them to [email redacted] and they will be forwarded to Holly directly.
