As many of you know, I was injured Jan. 31st of this year playing indoor volleyball, and have it's been a struggle ever since.
I had just left my job a couple of months prior to the injury, to join a bootcamp program and kick off my new life in Data Science. But what this meant is that at the time of the injury, I had no health insurance.

Still, I had to go immediately to the Emergency Room, where I had Xrays and told an MRI was the next step.

Finally months after the injury my state subsidized insurance was approved and kicked in, so it was time for the MRI. The results: Torn ACL, torn MCL, torn meniscus, and bone bruising. Surgery was imminent, not only to ever play anything again or be active, but just to be able to walk normally.

May 9th my surgery was done and successful. But with driving as my income prior to surgery, I am now watching my income drop and the medical bills pile up. Because we all know how it works here...even with insurance I owe thousands in co-insurance, emergency room visits, and tons of uncovered medical costs.

Having something physically disabling like this has been hard, but the depression that comes along is what really makes it a struggle. It might be temporary (1 year recovery post-surgery), but it feels like watching the life you normally live pass you by. I can't do the things I love like volleyball, snowboarding, travelling, and just being active in general. The stress of the medical bills just compounds the trauma. And now most of my time is doing PT to get the strength back to walk
You may know I will usually avoid asking for help at all cost so I am doing this out of pure necessity. But I'm already so appreciative of the love and support from you all, whether you can donate or not!
