Holly Voyles Journey

Donation protected
You may remember Holly as that tomboy from the middle school with her socks pulled up to her knees. Or as the girl who had one too many pairs of blue jeans in high school. You may recall being greeted when arriving for your chiropractor appointment, sitting next to her at church, passing by her at school events or seeing her as she cheered for her son at baseball games. Any of the places that you would see Holly you would see her with that big, beautiful, beaming smile.

In life, we don’t know where our paths will lead us. For Holly and I, a lifelong friendship is one of our paths. Basketball games where we first met, weekends of fun, dance parties in the car, many different hair styles, late night calls, weddings, babies, and now, a journey that I never foresaw; hours spent bedside in the hospital, full of uncertainty and waiting. Holding her hand, praying with her family, discussions about treatment plans and living a life on hold.

Our sweet Holly is almost 36 years old. A lifelong resident of Seymour, IN. Married to Andrew for 10 years. Mama to Holland - 8, Eden - 5 and stepmother to Ava - 16. Her daily life looks similar to a lot of working parents. There are morning routines with the kids, getting them where they need to be, heading to work at Columbus Regional Hospital, rushing home for a baseball game or dinner, just a night for snuggling and finally bath time, bedtime and finally some rest.

Holly, like a lot us, puts everyone’s needs before herself, thinking that it will be better tomorrow, or just one more day and I’ll do it. Holly started looking for back pain relief she had been experiencing, this led her to having 2 MRI’s. On Thursday, June 20th, 2019, an MRI showed compression factors within the vertebrae (C7 and C5). Along her thoracic spine, there are multiple areas that have been affected, but not severely damaged. The cause of the damage is from breast cancer that has metastasized.

Holly is currently at Schneck waiting for a bed to become available at IU Med Center. Once she is transferred, she will have a team of doctors that will develop a detailed plan. As of today, the course of treatment is still unknown. This new path for Holly will be long and winding, but also full of support from friends and family.

To keep everyone notified on Holly’s journey and to request monetary support for the future, this page will be updated frequently. While the costs are uncertain, they are sure to be cumbersome. Transparency to where the money is going will be updated as the diagnosis is confirmed, a plan is finalized and the treatments begin.

Holly and her family send heartfelt thanks and appreciation. Please keep them close to your hearts and in your prayers as they begin this journey.
