WhidbeyHealth EMT Holly Slothower suffered a lower back injury on November 20, 2024. She suffered a traumatic spinal injury while navigating a loaded backboard over uneven terrain. She put herself between the backboard and the ground to protect a patient and literally broke her back doing her job. Unfortunately for Holly, she could not heal quickly enough for her employer and she was terminated from employment on 09/29/2025.

Holly is much loved by her patients, co-workers, and the residents of Whidbey Island (she mostly works on the south end). Holly needs our help while she continues healing. Now she must also navigate her way through the legal process of fighting to get her job back.
