Holly & Ava Need Your Help

My name’s Joyce Holmes, and I’m here to talk about my little sister, Holly Wanlin. Holly is well-known for her altruistic work not only in the Okanagan but in Thailand, Cambodia and India, where she dedicates time and money volunteering at elephant and sloth bear sanctuaries. She supports Tolfa which has dog sanctuaries throughout India. She also has hands-on experience helping the underprivileged in Madagascar and Cambodia. Holly is the small business owner of Shawanda Rocks, Crystals and Gems - Holistic Wellness Center in Kelowna. Because of the current pandemic, she had to shut her store for several months. She’s thrilled to have her business back open and is grateful for the support of her loyal clientele.

Now, Holly’s in a position to need help, and has reluctantly agreed to let me set up this fundraiser for her.

Holly’s precious mini-schnauzer, Ava, became ill Friday night (July 10th) with diarrhea and vomiting. Holly took her to the emergency vet Saturday morning when her stool became bloody, and Ava is still there. She's been diagnosed with HGE Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis. Although the bleeding has almost stopped, her white blood count is dangerously low, and this sweet little girl is facing a long road to recovery. This condition is curable and often sees great results with no lasting implications.

Holly’s big heart is solid gold, and she’s doing everything possible to give her beloved fur-baby a fighting chance, but she needs financial help as the vet bill is becoming astronomical. Any donation, big or small, is welcome and appreciated. Large burdens become manageable with the help of many. All funds will go strictly to Ava’s ongoing medical care. Thank you, so very much.
