ENG - Hi! My name is Camilo, an Emmy nominated filmmaker from Quito, Ecuador currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio. After coming to the US for film school, I've been able to be a part of multiple projects from a documentary on immigrant high schoolers, a paranormal investigation in a haunted mansion, a backdrop video for a Grateful Dead concert, a commercial with a known olive oil brand, and more. Recently, I was able to premiere my latest short film, "Cross the Valley", at the Cindependent Film Festival. Not only was this an experience that demonstrated the reach of my creative work, it propelled me to begin crafting the next project: the senior capstone film, a culmination of my college journey and the next step in my professional career.

In order to take that step, though, I need all the help I can get! Film is a collaborative art form, but that extends much further beyond the set. With your support, you'd be funding the crucial elements that will make the project possible, from competitive pay for our talented actors and crew to well-earned meals between shoots, production design, and more. The larger the pledge, the more we can achieve, and the closer we get to fulfilling my artistic vision.

“HOLLOW HOPSCOTCH” is a drama film, blending several styles of filmmaking from the traditional narrative to the sensory avant-garde and other forms in-between. It focuses on two separate families, one whole, the other separate. Many issues will surface and few will be easily resolved. Inspired by films such as The Cremator, The Official Story, and For Ever Mozart, it conjures a new contemporary nightmare. It also includes texts from Roberto Bolaño, Clarice Lispector, T.S. Eliot, and Jorge Luis Borges.

ESP - ¡Hola! Soy Camilo, un cineasta Ecuatoriano nominado a los Emmys acabando mi educación superior en Cincinnati, Ohio. Desde que llegué acá, he tenido el privilegio de ser parte de varios de proyectos desde un documental sobre estudiantes de secundaria que inmigraron a los Estados Unidos, a una investigación paranormal en una casa embrujada, a la multimedia para un concierto de los Grateful Dead, a un comercial para una marca de aceite de oliva reconocida globalmente, y más. Recientemente, tuve la oportunidad de presentar mi último cortometraje, “Cruza el Valle” en el festival local Cindependent y en el Festival Friki en Quito. Ésta no solo fue una experience que demostró el alcance de mi obra creativa, pero también me motivó a preparar mi próximo proyecto: mi tesis, una culminación de mi viaje educativo y el siguiente paso en mi creciente carrera profesional.

Para dar ese paso, necesito todo el apoyo que pueda conseguir. El cine es un arte cooperativo, pero eso se extiende mucho más allá del set de producción. Con tu ayuda, lograremos financiar los elementos clave que harán que éste proyecto sea posible, desde paga competitiva para nuestros actores y equipo, hasta almuerzos bien merecidos, diseño de producción, y más. Mientras más grande sea la contribución, lo más que nos acercamos a cumplir nuestra meta y mi visión artística.

“RAYUELA EN EL VACÍO” es un drama que combina distintos estilos cinematográficos de la narrativa tradicional a la vanguardia sensorial y varias otras formas entre las dos. Se enfoca en dos familias muy diferentes, una completa, otra separada. Inspirada en películas cómo La historia oficial, El incinerador de cadáveres y For Ever Mozart, conjura una nueva pesadilla contemporánea. También incluye textos de Roberto Bolaño, Clarice Lispector, T.S. Eliot, y Jorge Luis Borges.
