Hi, my name is Janna. My sweet friend Hollie was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer, in October 2023. Since her diagnosis, she has undergone 25 sessions of radiation to shrink the large tumor in her forearm. She then underwent major surgery to remove the tumor, followed by extensive plastic surgery to replace muscle, tendon, vascular tissue, and skin that had been taken along with the tumor.
Hollie is a warm, loving, and dedicated woman who has given so much to others, and I am proud to call her my friend. She started her career as an English teacher working at Kearns high School where she truly loved her students. After a few years of teaching, she saw a growing need for mental health care and decided to pursue helping others in a new way. For the past 9 years she has been practicing as a licensed clinical social worker who has dedicated her career to providing accessible and affordable mental health care in her community to many including those who do not have insurance.
Fortunately, her medical team believes that they were able to remove the cancer. However, the road to recovery still continues to be long and painful without guarantee that the cancer will not come back. Not only does Hollie face enormous medical bills for her treatment, but she has missed a significant amount of work due to her illness. As a self employed person, Hollie isn't eligible for short term disability and as a single person she doesn't have a life partner to help shoulder her financial burden.
Hollie is someone who is often the first to offer help, yet struggles to ask for it herself. If you are able, any contribution to help ease her medical debt will be greatly appreciated!
