HELP HOLLI AVOID HOMELESSNESS

Holli needs our help.

Holli Wiseman has lived life helping and serving others. Today, she finds herself in need of help.

As a little girl Holli set her sights on becoming a nurse. Graduating from Union College in Lincoln Nebraska she went on to receive her         masters in wound care from Colorado State University.  She felt a calling to home care nursing, wanting to help the most vulnerable get the care they needed and deserved. Holli never married or had her own family. Instead she poured herself into her work, treating her patients  like family, often using her personal money if they had a need. She would rather go without than see someone in need.  And she wasn’t the  type of person to expect anything in return, she did it because her heart compelled her to give.

Like others that feel compelled to give, they often put themselves last. Holli didn’t save much. She honestly never thought she’d retire. But about 5 years ago she had a stroke. The stroke damaged her vision left her unable to work anymore, forcing her into a retirement she           never planned for. She soon found herself trying to survive on social security alone.

Holli has also dealt with diabetes much of her adult life and had kept it managed. As most diseases, Holli’s diabetes has progressed. She is   currently in kidney failure and requiring dialysis twice a week. About a year ago she also had part of her foot amputated. They’re really just buying time, she will lose the leg eventually. On top of barely surviving on social security her medical bills have increased substantially.

To add to her stress, her rent has recently increased by $435. The management company was trying to work with her and accepting a lower rate so she could apply for rental assistance through the state. Unfortunately, she makes just a little over the state of Colorado’s threshold. The management company has since adjusted her rent to the full amount and is asking for back payments for the months they adjusted  her rent. She doesn’t have the money. So she is being EVICTED. Because she makes a bit over the threshold for help in the state of Colorado, there isn’t any help she can receive until she is completely homeless. And even still, they will likely place her in a shelter.

The management company is willing to work with us. She needs to be caught up with all back rent and current rent by Friday.  $5,000 or be EVICTED. She doesn’t have it. At this point she’s desperate. She’s exhausted all other avenues.  My son and I are doing everything we can to help her, but we can’t shoulder the financial burden alone. We also live in California, she's alone in Colorado. We’re hoping to raise $10,000 to help cover the back rent, get her a month ahead, and to pay for some cleaning her place desperately needs. Holli isn’t without faults, she struggles with hoarding. Which has gotten worse with her declining health. The family will continue to get her the help she needs and will   start looking for nursing homes, but right now we have to keep a roof over her head.

Will you consider giving to help Holli keep a roof over her head and maintain just a shred of dignity? All donations are greatly appreciated  and will go only to helping Holli pay rent and get her place cleaned. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and will pay it forward      when given the opportunity.
