If you know Amanda Raffenaud, you love her. She is grace-filled, compassionate and uses her words to uplift others. She earned her PHD from UCF and is currently an assistant professor at Advent Health.
After losing her husband in 2016, she found herself a widow raising 2 incredible sons, Jimmy and Luke. This trio is tight and clung to each other and God as they have grieved the loss of James.
In November of 2018, Amanda had a clear mammogram but a scan of her legs a few weeks later revealed she had advanced stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She was 38 years old.
For the past two years Amanda has been working full time while also fighting cancer every day through medicine, bone infusions, acupuncture, stringent diet and lots of juicing. The cancer is in many bones with spots on several organs, with most recent progression to her thoracic and lumbar spine.
A few weeks ago a liquid biopsy revealed the cancer has mutated. This particular mutation means that she has become resistant to the entire family of drugs (plus some more!) that many women use for life with this diagnosis. Her second, third, and fourth treatment lines are now off the table and no longer options. This is obviously devastating but Amanda continues to keep her Eyes Up on the One who loves her most.
As her doctors decide on a new treatment plan, we believe it is a great time to remove some of the financial pressure in hopes of allowing her to focus on what matters most...her family, faith, and fighting cancer.
You can learn more of her story on her Caring Bridge site below. You can also donate to her through the non-profit EYES UP. Contact Alli for info.
