EDIT: When we took Hojicha to the vet, we discovered she was pregnant! The vet gave us an estimate for a possible spay and ethical euthanization of the fetuses. Since kittens would have been a huge responsibility, and since shelters are currently overwhelmed, we nearly resolved to this option. A few days after the visit, however, Hojicha suddenly gave birth to three lively kittens.

My roommate and I were completely overwhelmed, and all the funding so far has gone to Hojicha's checkup, and taking care of the kittens: Cardamom, Peony and Bergamot.

A stray kitten wandered onto mine and my best friend's porch during a rainstorm around midnight, looking malnourished and not older than 6 months. Evaluating her condition, we took her in for the evening, naming her Hojicha for her toasted, striped coat.

All shelters in the area are overfilled, so we are raising money to foster Hojicha until we can find a forever home that can provide safety and security for her.

She will need to be spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Additionally, she will need treatment for tick removal, treatment for her digestive issues, and treatment for her respiratory issues. We also need to set her up with litter, a carrier, and food supply for about a month.

After contacting local shelters and offices:

Estimated totals for the vet exam are around $80, with an additional $100 for tick removal and treatment, and $400 for her digestive issues as she is malnourished, dehydrated and severely constipated.

Estimated totals for her respiratory exam are around $200.

Estimated totals for spaying, vaccination, and microchipping are to be $150.

This brings our total cost to about $1030. Taking the platform's fees into consideration, we are asking for $1200 to help rescue this sweet kitten.
