Hi, my name is Alexis, and I am fundraising for my dog Hog. Hog went in for his routine dental cleaning the other day and was put under anesthesia. Unfortunately for him he had bad diarrhea from it, which we knew was normal but prolonged much longer than it was supposed to and became more of a liquid consistency. We took him in to get seen and he was prescribed an anti-diarrheal as well as some food to help him with his stool. He wasn’t eating much because he was uninterested. When we took him home, we gave him the prescribed wet food, 30 minutes later, he puked his whole dinner as well as the anti-diarrheal. Afterward, he drank water and kept throwing it up right afterward since nothing was in his stomach. It was a chain effect the rest of the night. The next day we took him in first thing in the morning. They ran a bunch of tests, like giardia, pancreas, another blood panel, and I think something else as well. They injected him with fluids and a cerenia shot because he got dehydrated from puking so much. The next day, he was put on a bland diet and was doing better, eating more and having more energy. We were told to give him half a cerenia pill in the morning which we did. Then we gave him the other half of the cerenia pill at night and he threw it up and regurgitated four times, uninterested in his food. It got worse as he started shaking, panting, and producing a lot of saliva, which he doesn't usually do. We took him to the emergency room at 11 pm and were there till around 2 am as they treated him with a cerenia shot to stop the puking, a motility agent to help, and move things along in his GI. They sent us home with an antacid to help with regurgitation and something to help with his appetite. He's been at the vet for four days and has lost so much weight this week. He started at 52 lbs and is down to 46lbs. He is pooping a lot of blood (the doctor said this is the least for concern) and worries me regardless.
I am, however, concerned if it doesn't get better, we will have to take him back again to get further tests and exams. I will also post the bills to show what has been done for full transparency. Please help our small family get hog back to health. He is the sweetest boy he deserves nothing but to feel good and be happy, he's been so sad lately. You can see it in his eyes. Thank you in advance for your donation!
