Hoffnung und Hilfe für Francisco & Genesis in Ecuador

Hallo, mein Name ist Anja und ich möchte euch heute zwei ganz besondere Menschen vorstellen: Francisco und Genesis.

Vor zwei Jahren habe ich die beiden in einem öffentlichen Bus in Ecuador kennengelernt. Im letzten Jahr hatte ich die Möglichkeit, sie in Arapicos zu besuchen, wo sie mit viel Eigenleistung eine kleine Hütte errichtet haben. Gemeinsam mit ihren drei von der Straße geretteten Hunden leben sie dort in einfachen Verhältnissen, aber mit beeindruckender Lebensfreude und unerschütterlichem Lebenswillen.

Genesis' Sohn Ingaru lebt unter der Woche im Nachbardorf bei seiner Mutter, um dort eine bessere Schule besuchen zu können. Die zeitweise Trennung fällt ihnen emotional schwer, eröffnet Ingaru jedoch bessere Zukunftsperspektiven.

Genesis arbeitet freiberuflich an Natur- und Sozialprojekten. Eines ihrer Projekte: Der Bau einer Markthalle, in der lokale Bauern ihr Obst und Gemüse direkt verkaufen können — ein wertvoller Beitrag für die Gemeinschaft.

Francisco stammt aus dem tiefen ecuadorianischen Amazonas und kämpft mit Leidenschaft und Herzblut für den Schutz des Territoriums seines indigenen Volkes der Shiwiar. Er leitet ehrenamtlich ein Projekt, das sich gegen die Bedrohung durch Erdölfirmen und den Raubbau an Bodenschätzen einsetzt.

An den Wochenenden bereiten die beiden Maitos zu — ein traditionelles Gericht, gegart über Holzfeuer, in Palmenblätter eingewickelt, gefüllt mit Fisch, Palmenherzen und weiteren Zutaten. Mit dem Verkauf sichern sie sich ein zusätzliches bescheidenes Einkommen.

Ein Schicksalsschlag traf sie im November letzten Jahres, als ihr liebevoll gebauter Verkaufsstand an einem beliebten Aussichtspunkt vollständig abbrannte. Nun richteten sie an ihrem Haus eine kleine Verkaufsstelle ein. Die Lage ist zwar nicht mehr so günstig, aber ihre treue Kundschaft weiß die Qualität ihrer Maitos zu schätzen und folgt ihnen auch dorthin.

Warum ich jetzt eure Unterstützung brauche:

Vor kurzem haben Francisco und Genesis ein altes Auto (Baujahr 1996) geschenkt bekommen. Es ist jedoch reparaturbedürftig und benötigt dringend Ersatzteile, die sie sich nicht leisten können.

Das Auto ist für sie von unschätzbarem Wert:

• Für Notfälle und Krankentransporte

• Für Fahrten zur Arbeit und zu Sozialprojekten

• Um als Familie zusammen unterwegs sein zu können (zurzeit nutzen sie ein altes Motorrad — in der Regenzeit lebensgefährlich)

• Auch die Nachbarn ohne eigenes Fahrzeug könnten es in Notfällen mitnutzen

Besonders wichtig: Für die regelmäßigen Fahrten zu ihren Projekten ins etwa zwei Stunden entfernte Puyo wäre das Auto ein Segen — sicher, wettergeschützt und zuverlässig.

Hope and Help for Francisco & Genesis in Ecuador

Hello, my name is Anja, and today I want to introduce you to two very special people who have truly touched my heart: Francisco and Genesis.

Two years ago, I met them on a public bus in Ecuador. Last year, I had the opportunity to visit them in Arapicos, where they built a small hut with their own hands and a lot of hard work. Together with their three rescued street dogs, they live in very simple conditions — but with remarkable joy for life and an unshakable will to keep going.

Genesis' son Ingaru lives with his mother in a neighboring village during the week so that he can attend a better school. The temporary separation is emotionally difficult for them, but it offers Ingaru a chance for a brighter future.

Genesis works as a freelance contributor to various environmental and social projects. One of her dearest projects is the construction of a market hall where local farmers can sell their fruit and vegetables directly — a valuable contribution to the community.

Francisco comes from deep within the Amazon rainforest and fights passionately for the protection of his indigenous Shiwiar people's territory. He voluntarily leads a project aimed at defending their land from threats posed by oil companies and the exploitation of natural resources.

On weekends, the two of them prepare Maitos — a traditional dish cooked over an open wood fire, wrapped in palm leaves and filled with fish, palm hearts, and other local ingredients. Selling these dishes provides them with a little extra income.

A heavy blow hit them in November of last year when their lovingly built food stand at a popular viewpoint completely burned down. They are now setting up a small sales stand next to their home. Although the location isn’t as ideal, their loyal customers appreciate the quality of their Maitos and are sure to follow them there.

Why I need your support now:

Not long ago, Francisco and Genesis were gifted an old car (built in 1996). Unfortunately, it urgently needs repairs and spare parts that they simply cannot afford at the moment.

This car would mean the world to them:

For emergencies and medical transportation

For trips to work and community projects

To travel together as a family (they currently rely on an old motorcycle — which is life-threatening during the rainy season)

And for their neighbors without a vehicle, who could also use it in emergencies

Most importantly: for their regular trips to Puyo, about two hours away, this car would be a blessing — safe, weatherproof, and reliable.

Let’s come together and give them hope by making this small but important goal possible.

Esperanza y ayuda para Francisco y Génesis en Ecuador

Hola, mi nombre es Anja y quiero presentarles a dos personas muy especiales que han tocado mi corazón: Francisco y Génesis.

Hace dos años los conocí en un autobús público en Ecuador — uno de esos encuentros que te cambian la vida. El año pasado tuve la oportunidad de visitarlos en Arapicos, donde, con mucho esfuerzo propio, construyeron una pequeña cabaña. Allí viven junto a sus tres perritos rescatados de la calle, enfrentando las dificultades de la vida con una valentía y una alegría admirables.

El hijo de Génesis, Ingaru, vive durante la semana en el pueblo vecino con su madre para poder asistir a una mejor escuela. La separación temporal les resulta emocionalmente difícil, pero le brinda a Ingaru mejores perspectivas para el futuro.

Génesis trabaja de manera independiente en proyectos sociales y ambientales. Uno de sus proyectos más importantes es la creación de un mercado donde los agricultores locales puedan vender directamente sus frutas y verduras — un aporte valioso para su comunidad.

Francisco, originario de una comunidad en lo profundo de la Amazonía, dedica su tiempo y corazón a proteger el territorio ancestral de su pueblo Shiwiar. Dirige de forma voluntaria un proyecto contra la amenaza de las empresas petroleras y mineras que intentan invadir sus tierras.

Cada fin de semana, juntos preparan Maitos, un plato tradicional cocinado sobre leña y envuelto en hojas de palma, con pescado, palmito y otros ingredientes. Con su venta, logran generar un ingreso adicional.

El pasado noviembre sufrieron un golpe cuando su puesto de ventas, que habían construido con mucho esfuerzo en un mirador popular, se incendió por completo. Ahora están acondicionando un pequeño espacio de ventas en su casa. Aunque ya no está tan bien ubicado, sus clientes fieles siguen buscando sus Maitos, porque son conocidos y apreciados en la zona.

Por qué hoy necesito su apoyo:

Recientemente, Francisco y Génesis recibieron como donación un carro antiguo (año 1996). Sin embargo, necesita varias reparaciones y repuestos que, lamentablemente, no pueden costear.

Este vehículo es muy importante para ellos:

• Para emergencias médicas y traslados

• Para poder ir a sus trabajos y proyectos sociales

• Para movilizarse como familia (actualmente solo cuentan con una motocicleta vieja, que en temporada de lluvias se vuelve muy peligrosa)

• También podría ser de uso comunitario, ya que en su barrio nadie más tiene un carro.

Además, facilitaría los viajes frecuentes a Puyo, a dos horas de distancia, donde realizan gestiones y coordinaciones para sus proyectos sociales y de protección de la selva.

Ayudémosles a hacer realidad este pequeño pero valioso sueño.
