Mit 12 musste Samir seine Familie in Somalia von einem auf den anderen Tag verlassen, weil die Milizen ihn am nächsten Tag als Kindersoldat einziehen wollten. Über ein Jahr war er mit 12 ganz alleine mit Schleppern unterwegs - oft wochenlang ohne mit jemandem sprechen zu können, weil niemand seine Sprache sprechen konnte. Jetzt ist er nicht mehr auf der Flucht, aber das Leben ohne seine Familie und in großer Sorge um seine Familie belastet Samir unglaublich. Um endlich wieder mit seiner Familie zusammensein zu können gibt es viele bürokratische Hürden aber im Moment fehlt es vor allem an den finanziellen Mitteln, um ihn mit seiner Mutter und jüngeren Geschwistern wieder zu vereinen.

Seit seiner Ankunft in Deutschland hat Samir Unglaubliches geleistet. Trotz aller Herausforderungen besucht er regelmäßig die Schule, spricht inzwischen fast fließend Deutsch und ist in kürzester Zeit ein fester Teil unserer Gemeinschaft geworden. Er engagiert sich, hat Freundschaften geschlossen und kann sich ein Leben außerhalb Deutschlands kaum noch vorstellen.

Doch so sehr er sich hier eingelebt hat – seine Familie fehlt ihm jeden Tag. Die Sehnsucht nach seinen Eltern und Geschwistern ist groß. Nach einer langen Zeit der Ungewissheit gibt es endlich Hoffnung: Die Familienzusammenführung wurde von den Behörden genehmigt! Damit Samir seine Familie wieder in die Arme schließen kann, fehlt nur noch ein letzter Schritt – ein offizieller DNA-Test, der die Verwandtschaft bestätigt.

Leider muss Samir die hohen Kosten für diesen Test und die damit verbundenen Ausgaben ganz allein tragen. Für einen Jugendlichen, der ohne seine Familie nach Deutschland geflohen ist, ist das eine kaum zu bewältigende Hürde.

Hinzu kommen die Kosten für die Flüge, damit seine Familie nach Deutschland reisen kann.

At the age of 12, Samir had to leave his family in Somalia from one day to the next because the militias wanted to conscript him as a child soldier the next day. For over a year, he was 12 and travelling alone with smugglers - often for weeks without being able to speak to anyone because nobody could speak his language. Now he is no longer on the run, but living without his family and worrying about his family is incredibly stressful for Samir. There are many bureaucratic hurdles to overcome in order to finally be reunited with his family, but at the moment he mainly lacks the financial means to reunite with his mother and younger siblings.

Since his arrival in Germany, Samir has achieved incredible things. Despite all the challenges, he attends school regularly, now speaks almost fluent German, and has become an integral part of our community in a very short time. He is engaged, has made friends, and can hardly imagine a life outside of Germany anymore.

But as much as he has settled in here – he misses his family every single day. The longing for his parents and siblings is immense. After a long period of uncertainty, there is finally hope: the family reunification has been approved by the authorities! For Samir to finally be able to embrace his family again, only one last step is missing – an official DNA test to confirm their relationship.

Unfortunately, Samir has to bear the high costs for this test and the associated expenses all by himself. For a young person who fled to Germany without his family, this is an almost insurmountable hurdle.

On top of that, there are the costs for the flights so that his family can travel to Germany.
