Hoff needs Your Help! The moniker makes sense for anyone who knows our friend Dan Kimball who is the center of this campaign (for the record Dan is both a faster swimmer and better looking than Hoff).
If you haven’t heard, Dan was diagnosed with cancer last week. When I heard the news the world stopped rotating; I’m sure you felt the same. As I write this through tear-stained eyes I am left to reflect on all the times Dan showed-up....usually late, but he was there when it mattered. It’s our turn to show up for Dan and his amazing wife & kids.
There remains a lot of questions about the cancer and those answers will come from the best oncologists in the state in time. The process and testing of cancer will no doubt be very taxing on Dan and his family as will the treatment. Thankfully Dan is both as stubborn and strong as an ox so he is bringing the fight to cancer.
With that said, we can make Dan’s life a little easier so he and Mari can focus on treatments, resting, recovering from sleepless nights, and overcoming this trial. Please support this campaign which will be a fund to pay for 1) child care (maybe even a live-in nanny, 2) house cleaning, and 3) cooking and order-in food.
So many of you have asked “how can I help?” Here’s a simple way; $5, $10, $100, whatever. The truth is Dan has done well for himself and thankfully has good health insurance. I KNOW Dan would be reluctant accept any money from anybody but think of it this way: we can’t all bring dinner to the Kimballs house, we all can’t babysit for the Kimballs, we all can’t clean their house, but this gives you the ability to do all of those things. If you can’t afford to donate, no problem maybe just shoot Dan a text or a message that you’re thinking about him.
Dan and Mari will have a list of “go to” available care takers and, with your help, a piggy bank to pay them. Marianne runs a tight ship in their household which effort reflects in the love of their household so it might be difficult for them to “let go” and delegate some of the tasks but let’s give them a helping hand anyways.
Good news, I found a sponsor who will match all of your contributions by 50% up to $20,000 (which by the way is the cost of a full-time live in nanny). So if you donate $100, then pow $150 ; $500 boom $750
Dan is the best of us, and we all know it. There is no justice in this cancer and no making this right or fair, but we can make it easier. We cannot repay Dan for all the times he showed up but we can show our love with our collective widow’s mite. Thank you in advance.
