Hoenn Pokemon Tarot Deck

Hi, I'm Rick, and I'm a huge Pokemon fan. Ruby and Sapphire were my first games; because of that, Gen 3 and the Hoenn region hold a special place in my heart.

 

I'm also interested in the Tarot. So I've decided to combine these two interests to create a fanmade Hoenn Pokemon Tarot deck, which will emphasize the major arcana. I have been posting videos about this project on my TikTok.

I would need donations to print and sell these decks, including a box for storage. I am starting this fundraiser with an initial goal of $2000, which would be enough to pay for 100-150 decks. If we considerably exceed this goal, I will expand this project to a full 78-card deck rather than just the 22 major arcana. Further excess of this goal will lead to more decks that will be printed and sold. I will also consider creating prints or other spinoffs of this initial project's intent.

 

The first $100 raised will be dedicated to printing mockups early on in the project so I can test different options for paper quality, box type, border vs. borderless cards, etc. I will be sharing the results of these mockups on TikTok.

 

I will likely conduct all sales on my website Prices for these decks are still in deliberation, but I am thinking about $35 per deck if I do the full 78-card deck. I am taking suggestions and feedback for pricing on my TikTok and Instagram. I will keep this page updated once the final pricing has been determined.

06/13 | 9:46PM EST: For clarification, this is NOT a presale. This is meant for donations, and donors interested in buying a deck of cards will still have to pay. I have chosen Gofundme over Kickstarter for a few reasons. Kickstarter charges a fee for creators, whereas Gofundme does not. From what I've read I believe Kickstarter does not allow refunds but Gofundme does and I want donors to always have the option to back out or change their donated amount. Additionally, because I am still deliberating the final price of these decks, I don't want to conduct a presale-like fundraiser just yet.

06/21 | 8:55PM EST: Thank you all so much for helping me reach our initial goal! Due to the increase in interest for this project, I have raised the goal to $5000. The extra money will help with shipping supply, storage, and investing in higher quality decks. As a side note, I will NOT be shipping outside the US. These cards will be sold for $40 each (shipping not included). Mockups have been ordered and I will share results once I've received and analyzed them.
