My name is George Hoeffner and I have started this GoFundMe for my Uncle, Godfather and fellow firefighter to try to ease the financial burden during this difficult time.
Philly was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia on Tuesday, July 14th. Anyone that knows Philly knows his family, farm, and community have been his life's work. He is a loving husband, a proud father of four daughters, and a doting grandfather to his four grandchildren. He has spent his entire life working day in and day out on the family’s 103 year old farm, and being diagnosed in the middle of the summer, typical growing and harvesting season, has been especially devastating for the family business. Philly is also a dedicated lifetime member and former Chief of the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department. He has always done whatever he could to support his family, friends, his community, and fellow servicemen and women.
Philly has already spent over a month in the hospital as he receives chemotherapy, transfusions and surgeries to mitigate complications. It is still unclear when he will be able to return home, and even then he has a long road ahead of him. During this time, I know many friends and family do not want Philly and his family to be worried about the expenses related to his medical care and the up keep of the family farm. As such, this GoFundMe has been created.
