Hello everyone, my name is Cris Almanzar and I’m doing this for my sister Bella (Isabel) and niece Jaheisy (Jahi).
These are difficult times for us to share because no family is prepared to hear that a loved one has cancer.
On October 7th, we received the most devastating news a family could ever endure: my 17-year-old niece, Jaheisy, has been diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin Lymphoma. It has taken us a couple of weeks for the news to really sink in and come into terms with this reality.
This all started a few weeks ago when my sister and her were watching a movie. Jahi went to stretch and found a lump in her neck which, at the moment, we didn’t think it was something serious since she didn’t complain of pain or discomfort. My sister immediately made an appointment with her doctor and after several tests and eventually a biopsy, the result came back as cancer.
This overwhelming news comes with many disappointments as she was a striving senior in high school and a volleyball player. She was looking forward to a year full of activities and overall exciting goals that will now be placed on hold for an unknown time. The doctors decided to go with an intense chemotherapy and as a result, she will not have a typical senior year.
My sister is a single mother of two who works tirelessly to provide for my niece and nephew. Because of the circumstances, she will not be able to work extra jobs in order to focus on Jahi’s well-being.
We ask you to keep us in your prayers and if you would like to assist with Bella’s financial burden, any donation would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to Jaheisy’s medical expenses and related financial situation.
On behalf of the Almanzar family and closest friends, we appreciate the outpouring of prayers, love and support shown over the past few weeks and, undoubtedly, in the coming months.
