Hi, I’m Andrew’s mom Anne. Andrew is 32 with his birthday coming up on March 11th. He is a father of an 11-year-old son Silas.
In July 2022 Andrew became very ill and was hospitalized with a bacterial infection and diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. He started infusions and injections at home. Unfortunately, the 6 months of treatments did not work.
He would work come home and go to bed. Yes, he had to move back home with me, the last thing an adult male wants to do. All his belongings are in storage. During this time I watched him deteriorate and try to live a normal life.
- On February 11th I took Andrew to the emergency room. The doctor said he doesn’t know how he is functioning and he will be here for quite sometime. Within a few hours, he was admitted.
After 2 weeks of getting him stable, they started a different infusion. Within 12 hours Andrew was in excruciating pain. To find out he now has CDiff which is another bacterial infection. The pain is so intense he curls up and cries for hours while they administer pain medication every 2 hours. He is confined to his room, with only immediate family to visit. Since being bedridden, he has lost muscle mass and can barely get out of bed to walk to the bathroom.
He is doing everything he can to avoid Colostomy surgery.
If you know Andrew he is a hard worker. Being confined to his room and in constant pain, he worries about his job, medical bills, his new way of life and missing his son.
When I go up and visit, I try to hold back my tears and be strong for him. I find myself crying wishing I could take his pain away. That I can't do, if I can take away some of his stress and the financial burden I'm asking for help. People are asking what they can do for him, I know donating to help with his medical needs and bills, will help.
Please keep Andrew in your prayers and thank you for all your love and support.
