Help Bring Chris Covelli Home!!

As of today, we have been informed as of February 4th, Chris’s insurance company will no longer pay for him to stay at Craig. We have battled hard to get his time extended, but the battle has been lost. Unfortunately, with all his setbacks over the last 3 plus months he is not ready to come home. Thus, the family is now looking for other alternatives so Chris can continue his rehab somewhere else and we hope in the next few months be at a point where he is ready to go home.
Over the past couple of weeks, the family has met with the great staff of Craig and we learned that the medical and other care expenses for someone with the injuries that Chris sustained in the first year top a million dollars. Much of this is covered by insurance, but as we have come to find out and understand there are many things that are not. These things not covered include many changes needed to the family home for wheelchair access, bathroom accessibility, along with other day to day basic care essentials. Other items include lifts to assist care givers, wheelchair accessible vehicle and the list goes on and on for items that will be needed to ensure the family and care givers can provide a basic quality of life for Chris when he comes home.
So today we have started this new gofundme campaign to help the family cover the expenses that are coming in the very near future to prepare for Chris’s homecoming, which we hope will be in the next few months. Once again for those of you have already given, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. There is never truly a way to express our sincere appreciation for your giving, prayers and continued words of encouragement. We would just ask that you help spread the word to others as we look to help ease the financial burden for the family as they prepare to welcome Chris home soon.
On a final note we would just like to tell you about the fight and determination that resides in Chris Covelli. As none of us can imagine or ever want to imagine being where Chris is right now, we can tell you his willingness to accept the split second change to his life and not allow it to keep him down is an inspiration to his whole family. We all remember a conversation with him early on, even before he was able to talk, he mouthed the words, “I am going to do everything I did before, it will just be different.” This back when we as a family had not even come to terms with what happened, yet Chris was already planning his future and creating a mindset that would drive him to achieve it.
That attitude has never stopped and even with all the setbacks along the way he is more determined than ever to get home and move on with his life. I don’t think one family member has not experienced walking into his room feeling down, only to have Chris lift their spirits within a few minutes of talking with him. He is truly and inspiration to all of us and we hope you can help spread the word to help ease the financial burden on the family as we prepare with excitement for the day Chris will be home.
Thank you all so much,
