Support for Kristie

Unexpected things happen in life all the time, you just never expect when it will. Holiday’s most often bring families together and sometimes don’t end how you want the day to. On Sunday May 13th, our family and friends were spending time together enjoying a cookout and riding a razor/ATV around the property for fun on Mother’s Day. My mom (Kristie) and brother (tyler) took the razor for a ride and long story short flipped the razor while driving. Both were ejected, tyler being fully ejected and Mom being partially ejected. Mom was pinned on her head under the frame of the razor. My brother, Tyler, used all his force and lifted the razor to get his mother’s head out from under the bar. This happened all under 3 minutes of being on the razor, the ambulance was called and my mom was rushed to OU Medical for the Trauma department in a critical condition. Tyler did get checked and will be sore with bruising throughout his body and a pulled muscle in his arm, no serious injuries for him. My mom on the other hand had a big laceration on her scalp/forehead and behind her ear and needed 25 total sutures in her head. As well as broken ribs & sternum and a fracture on her C6 and T6-T8 of her spine. My mom will be in a back brace for some time to heal as well as she will need around the clock care and help for quite some time.

Recently my mom and dad (Ryan Roberts) moved my grandfather here from California to take over care after a stroke he had. Since then my mom has become his POA and Caregiver full time and has stopped working to take care of him. Because of these recent changes she was in between getting insurances therefore she did not have insurance when this accident happened. I (Katelyn) have stayed by my mom’s side since the accident, the recovery will be long and painful. We are keeping hopes up right now for no surgery. If anyone would like to help my mom and our family in any way in this time of need we are asking for donations, we don’t expect anything at all but to help cover the costs of the medical bills and the medications she will need would be a tremendous help.
