To anyone reading this, Hello and God bless you. My name is Mariela Gutierrez and I am fundraising for my beautiful niece Mia Jimena Quevedo. Mia is 15 months old with the sweetest personality and lives in Guatemala. She was born prematurely and shortly after birth doctors discovered she has a congenital heart disease called Pulmonary Atresia with Intact Ventricular Septum. Pulmonary Atresia is one of several heart valve defects that is found at birth or shortly afterward. In pulmonary atresia, the valve that allows blood to flow from the heart to the lungs (pulmonary valve) doesn't work correctly. Instead of opening and closing to allow blood to travel from the heart to the lungs, a sheet of tissue or muscle blocks blood flow. Mia was too little for doctors to perform surgery on her until now. Mia needs a new heart and is waiting to receive her transplant where her surgery will be done in the Cayman Islands. Doctors are estimating that the costs for transportation to and from the island, her surgery, and post-operations is about $70,000 USD which is $542,261.93 in Guatemalan currency, over half a million. A foundation called @gapedgt will help them with the rest. Every dollar counts to help Mia receive her new heart to live.
“No doubt about it: children are a gift from the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a divine reward.” Psalm 127:3
