The Dustin Songer Fund

Hello, my name is Taylor Songer and I'm making this page on behalf of my brother Dustin Songer and his family. Over the course of the past year his family has encountered several obstacles and could really use some help!

Dustin and his wife Linsday have been married for a few years now. A year ago they were blessed with a beautiful baby  daughter Anna. Several hours after Anna was born she was rushed to Children's hospital in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, where she spent her first Christmas in the intensive care unit. This past October Anna was also in the hospital because she had fluid on her brain. The doctors were able to put an internal shunt in, to help drain the fluid off of her brain. Baby Anna has managed to make a full recovery from her birth complications and has blessed our family with her wonderful smile every day! 

On January 5th 2016 they took my brother Dustin to the hospital for what they thought was the stomach flu. However, when they got there they preformed several tests and discovered that he had two tumors on his brain. The one was the size of a racquet ball and the other is the size of a nickel. They then decided to air lift Dustin to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Over the course of the next few days they decided to perform brain surgery and remove the large tumor. The surgery was proven sucessful. Dustin was able to come home from the hospital a few days later and seemed to be doing very well! 

However, a few days after Dustin got home, we received a call from the doctors who informed us that the tumors were glioblastomas which is a very rare cancer in young people. The tumors are also melignant and extremely fast spreading. As for now Dustin is looking at another surgery to try and remove the other tumor. Once they do that he will then begin chemo and radiation to help with fighting cancer. 

Over the course of the past month my brother and his wife have both been forced to take time off work due to the circumstances of the situation. They are managing to make it through so far, but with baby Anna and all of the other expenses that continue to pour in, they could really use your help! Any donation would be greatly appreciated and would immensely help my brother and his family during this tough time.
