As a lot of you know, my husband was diagnosed with stage IV GBM (brain cancer) back in June 2015. We recently have been told that the tumor is progressing. We were told that there isn't much out there approved yet to help attack the tumor, but there is an IV medication that will "cut off the blood supply" of the tumor, which is what he is going to be starting this week.
I know in my heart that there is something out there to help Brian, something more and someone more educated when it comes to GBM. I have read articles about patients getting second opinions and even getting tumors removed after many local doctors said that it was inoperable . There are new trials every day!
The VA does not want to pay for Brian to get a second opinion. It took a fight to just get him to see an Oncologist locally instead of driving 2 hours away. This is very frustrating and unfair.
Our veterans should be receiving the best healthcare possible. Their selflessness to defend us and our country, their sacrifices. It just breaks my heart to see how they get treated, and now it hits even harder trying to get help for my husband.
So, I am trying to raise money so that he can be seen at a good Brain Tumor hospital, where they see this kind of stuff every day. Anything will help. Cleveland Clinic's Brain Tumor Center costs a little over $500 for just a consultation and the VA does not want to proceed. I don't know what else to do.
