Hi, my name is Patty McGowen and our good friend Sondra needs our help. As you may know, she has battled rare lung disease since birth. Due to the continued degeneration of her lungs over the last three years, her doctors gave her no choice but to step down from her beloved teaching position at HOPE Academy. This was one of the hardest things she's ever had to do.

Since leaving, she has focused on recovering at home and researching other pathways to slow down the progression of the disease. It has been a slow and painful process.

Sondra made the difficult decision to NOT go ahead with the double-lung transplant her doctors recommended. She has chosen instead a different and difficult route. It has required changing every aspect of her life, including moving to a newer home and isolating herself to reduce the possibility of infection.

Walking alongside Sondra during this sensitive and difficult time, I've seen her grieving heart slowly being restored with joy and hope. She has taken huge steps in changing her lifestyle, but the process is not over yet. Recently, she has learned of two different avenues that may aid in finding the root cause of her disease and help extend her life expectancy. However, these two avenues will greatly increase her monthly expenses.

This is where we come in! Sondra has touched all of our lives in so many ways. She has cared for, and loved us well and now she needs our help. Time is of the essence! Can we partner together to move her forward down these new, hopeful avenues?
