My family has been hit with more heartbreak this year than we ever could have imagined. Just weeks after we laid my grandma, everyone’s Nana, to rest, my mom received a devastating diagnosis: supraglottitis laryngeal cancer, a cancerous mass growing on her vocal cords.

For years, my mom has struggled without a voice. She went to doctor after doctor, each one telling her nothing was wrong. She trusted them—because who wouldn’t? But right after losing her mom, something felt off. She ended up in the ER, and that’s when they found the mass. Our world changed in an instant.

To make things even harder, my mom had just earned her CDL and started a brand-new job. Her insurance hadn’t kicked in yet when the doctors made their discovery. Now, the medical bills, treatments, and supplies are coming in fast, and every single cost is falling on her shoulders—shoulders already carrying more than anyone should have to bear.

Asking for help is not something my family is used to. We’re the people who show up for others, who lend a hand without thinking twice. But this time… we need help.

My mom will probably be upset that I’m posting this, but I’m just a son who wants to keep his mom here for as long as God allows. I would take care of everything myself if I could—but I can’t. So I’m reaching out to anyone who can find it in their heart to support her, in any way.
