The picture at the top of this page is a school building in Ghana. Nkwatapong D/A basic school is in the Bosomo Freho District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana in Africa. It serves over 265 children between the ages of 1 and 16. As you can see the school is in bad shape. It's so bad that it's considered unsafe.
We are raising funds to help the Reliance Charity Foundation with construction of a six-unit classroom block for the community in Nkwantapong to replace this current structure.
The Reliance Charity Foundation was started by a young man named Eric Owiredu. I met him while speaking for a virtual conference for young business professionals in Ghana and Nigeria. He is only 23, but his passion for helping the people in his community makes him seem much older! He's impressive.
A few months ago, I partnered with Reliance Charity Foundation to raise money to build a restroom facility for a school in the Eastern Region of Ghana (Asene Manso-Akroso District), because the children had been relieving themselves in bushes near the school and a little girl was almost bitten by a snake. That project cost about $800.
This project was originally going to cost around $13,000, but the school officials said if they can just get materials like sand, cement, iron rods, wood and other building materials, their community can construct it without hiring contractors and with that it will limit the contruction cost closer to $10,000.
This is the biggest and most expensive project the Reliance Charity Foundation has ever undertaken, but I truly believe we can make this happen. There is already another school in a different area of Ghana with a similar need, so my dream would be to help both schools and maybe even have extra money to help supply the school with furniture and supplies!
Thank you for considering donating and sharing this with other people who have a heart for kids and education!
