Down But Not Out! Canon camera body revival

For over 30 years, I’ve been documenting live music—from tiny dive bars to arena stages, from total unknowns to legends. I’ve shot in the packed, hot, and sweaty pit at CBGB’s in New York, and in the cool, hyper-lit Live Houses of Japan. Whether on analog film or digital sensors, I’ve always chased that fleeting, powerful moment where music and image collide.

My photos have found their way onto album covers, in magazines like Down For Life, EAT (JAPAN) Full Contact, Outsider Magazine, In Effect Zine, and New Noise, as well as documentaries like The Godfathers of Hardcore and Punk. This work is my life’s passion and livelihood, and I’ve never stopped pushing forward—until now.

Sadly, my longtime camera, the Canon EOS 1D Mark II, has finally given out. Right as I’m gearing up for new concert shoots with Acid Bath, Voivod, The Damned, and (fingers crossed) Morrissey—as well as sessions for two upcoming photography books.

That’s why I’ve launched this GoFundMe: to raise $1,700 CAD to purchase a reliable used Canon 5D Mark IV—a camera that will allow me to keep working at a professional level without missing a beat.

Why the Canon 5D Mark IV?

The 5D Mark IV is a modern, full-frame DSLR built for serious photography. Here’s what it brings to the table:

In-camera 4K video for expanding my work into video documentaries—including restarting a NYHC project I began in the '90s

It’s not about chasing specs or collecting gear—it’s about getting just what I need to keep documenting the music that matters.

As of July 15, 2025, I’ve located a used 5D Mark IV in great condition for $1,400 CAD. Now I just need to reach the finish line and secure it before it’s gone.
