In previous years I have ridden the Sydney to Wollongong race to raise money to support my close friend Alex who suffered from MS.
Unfortunately, he passed away from that dreaded disease in June this year.
This lovely girl is now the focus of my fundraising efforts..
This fundraiser is for one of my daughters’ closest friends.
Her parents came to Australia nearly a decade ago but are not residents yet.
Not long ago, their 13-year-old daughter radiated joy — laughing, going to school, and dreaming of the future.
While she had been managing some anxiety, it has recently escalated into severe obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trapping her in a relentless cycle of fear and compulsions.
Each day is a struggle as she becomes stuck in exhausting rituals — washing, checking, and repeating — overwhelmed by the fear of making a mistake. Sleep eludes her, meals become a source of anxiety, and what should be simple moments turn into hours-long battles against her thoughts.
Her devoted parents work hard every day, but they face immense challenges. Without Medicare or permanent residency, they struggle to access affordable diagnosis, medication, and therapy essential for their daughter’s recovery.
OCD isn’t just a quirk; it’s a significant mental health challenge that can overwhelm a young life.
However, with the right support — psychological counseling, medication, and therapy — there is hope for recovery. This girl can reclaim her childhood.
Every dollar contributed will go directly to:
- Psychiatrist and psychologist sessions
- Medication and ongoing therapy support
- Basic care to help the family manage until treatment begins
This is a crucial moment. OCD's grip is strong, but early intervention can change everything.
Please consider donating. Even a small contribution can significantly impact this beautiful girl’s journey toward healing and joy.
Thank you for taking the time to read and support this cause. With your generosity, she has a real chance to heal, reclaim her laughter, and experience the joys of being a kid again — not a prisoner to her thoughts.
