HMS Beagle: Worthley Style

The HMS Beagle was the ship Darwin was on when he formed his scientific theories on evolution. I've been accepted to be part of a spring break course to The Galapagos to see the places where he figured it all out!
While there, I will be studying the natural history and conservation of these amazing islands. I'll get the chance to go snorkeling with sea turtles, iguanas, and tropical fish, hike around a volacanic crater, and most importantly, I'll get the chance to interact with the ecosystems I have been learning about in so many of my courses.
With a crazy experience like this, there also comes a price tag. The course is $2,900 which includes all travel and lodging within Ecuador, food, and all of the activities we will be doing. On top of that I have to pay for travel from Burlington to Quito, Ecuador which will be around $1000 as well as miscellaneous things like vaccinations, food while traveling to and from Ecuador, lots of sunscreen, etc.
Even though it's expensive, I can't afford not to go. We are losing biodiveristy at an alarming rate, to the point where many scientists believe we are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction. The Galapagos might not be around in the sense that we know them by the time I could reasonably afford this trip.
I was able to afford the spring break travel course I went on last year with an Americorps scholarship I earned by volunteering with the National Parks Service through the Student Conservation Association. This year I'm on my own, so I'm asking for the help from family and friends.
$4000 would cover the full cost of my trip, which I don't expect to reach. I have some savings that I am able to use towards this trip, but I also am graduating in May and don't want to start life in the real world with no savings.
