Jaylee Jackson has been nominated to attend the Junior National Young Leaders Conference, an Envision program, to be held this summer in Washington D.C.  The JrNYLC is a prestigious event that is held every year, by nomination only, for the best and brightest students; assisting them in developing the skills needed to accomplish their future life goals.  Jaylee was nominated by Ms. Sandra Dominguez, who recognized her as a student with the scholastic merit, maturity, and strength of character needed to represent Parkland Middle school at this unique leadership program.

 

By attending JrNYLC, Jaylee will prepare for her future and take the first step towards a path to success in high school, college, and her career.  Jaylee will learn the traits of a successful leader, and the importance of setting clear goals, improving communication skills, embracing models for solving complex problems, and building effective teams.

 

It is a tremendous honor to be nominated for this week-long conference that includes learning about our past and present leaders at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and studying leadership choices at historic locations such as Harpers Ferry National Historical Park in West Virginia.

Jaylee is asking for donations to assist in paying the tuition fees and airfare for this conference. Jaylee has set a goal of $2,500, and is also pledging that for every $250.00 donated, she will complete one hour of community service; to say thank you for believing in her and her success as a future leader of our nation.

 

Jaylee has written a letter to all of you to express what this opportunity means to her:

When I first heard that I was nominated to attend the Junior National Young Leaders Conference, I was completely blown away and it felt like I was in a dream. I truly cannot express what an honor it is just to receive this nomination. I am so grateful to have an amazing support system, encouraging me every day to do my best and strive for greatness.

Being able to attend this conference would open up so many opportunities for me, and allow me to continue to grow as an individual, a student, and member of my community. I would truly appreciate any donations made towards my fund to ensure I may attend this conference, and just want to say thank you to all of you, whom believe in me. I promise I will not let you down, and will use the knowledge I gain to be the best person I can be.

 

We are so proud of Jaylee’s accomplishments and honored she has been nominated to attend the JrNYLC. We are extremely proud of the successful young leader our daughter is becoming, and believe this opportunity will improve her current leadership skills so she can come home and apply them in her community.

 

Jaylee has maintained A/B honor roll her entire scholastic career; she was placed in a gifted and talented program at the young age of 7 years old, she served as the vice president of her elementary student council for 2 years, and she was a member of the council for Rachel’s Challenge, to end bullying in our school systems.  Her teachers and faculty state she is a true pleasure to have in class, always lending a helping hand, and setting an example on how to be a model student.  Jaylee also tutors younger children to ensure they are also successful students and enjoy receiving an education as she has.
